The 2005 Australian production starred David as the revolutionary Perchik alongside the legendary Topol – who starred in the 1971 film adaption – and toured nationally for two years.
Set in the Pale of Imperial Russia in 1905, Fiddler on the Roof centres on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, who wish to marry for love – each one’s choice of a husband moves further away from the customs of his faith.
The cast also included Judith Roberts (Golde), Maggie Kirkpatrick (Yente), Louise Kelly (Tzeitel), Laura Fitzpatrick (Hodel), Emily Green (Chaim), Tim Wright (Motel) and Shaun Rennie (Fyedka).
