The Australian premiere of Thoroughly Modern Millie formed part of the 2006 season of The Production Company.

David starred as Jimmy Smith with Chloe Dallimore (The Producers) as Millie, Lucy Durack (Wicked, Legally Blonde) as Miss Dorothy, Debra Byrne (Sunset Boulevard) as Muzzy van Hossmere and Nicki Wendt as Mrs Meers.

The winner of a Tony Award for Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie is the 2001 stage adaptation of George Roy Hill’s 1967 movie comedy. Set in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love. Problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China.  She meets New York paper clip salesman Jimmy Smith and they eventually fall in love.
